Bad timing

Is there such a notion as “bad timing?” Where does it come from? You hear it everyday, but is it ever used as it should be?

In my world, bad timing is such a contradictorial concept. It conflicts with that other concept I’ve heard my whole life as well: “Everything happens for a reason”. I met this amazing girl once, and I thought she was something special, and of course it didn’t work out between us. People just kept saying that our meeting was bad timing, because any other circumstances would have made it ideal. Ten months later, I realized it wasn’t bad timing at all, in fact, it was perfect timing… Everything happens for a reason… and I learned so much from that so-called-failed relationship. I learned how to see myself in a new form; stronger, independent. Any other way, I wouldn’t have learned the lesson I learned that day.

I guess bad timing can occur when… I don’t know… you enter your roommate’s bedroom and catch him having sex with his girlfriend or something. But for deeper, stronger meanings, bad timing is just a way of not seeing the things as they are, as an objective outsider’s perspective.

Obviously everybody has his or her own thought on this. I had this good friend once, and I remember him always looking for a sign (like asking for rain in the month of April) when he liked a girl, and he always got a sign of approval from the skies, unless of course he did not and then it was just a big coincidence, instead of a sign.

People always think what it’s best according to their own satisfaction. The 3 wise men of choices will always be around to contradict my opinions, but I like to believe in only one thing and be firm on my conclusion, that way I’ll know how to handle it when it comes, instead of changing my vote every time just to annul my disappointment.

Any thoughts?
